Performance Pass: Your Ticket to the Next Great Performance
Three nights. Five stages. Twenty-nine artists. Endless possibilities.
The WAA Juried Showcase is where the future of the performing arts takes the stage. Over three nights in five iconic LA venues, 29 extraordinary artists will debut bold new work in music, dance, and theatre. Learn more about the official lineup of artists here.
Showcases are excerpts from full productions, designed to give industry insiders a taste of what’s to come. In the past, these insider-only performances were just 15 minutes long and required full conference registration to see, which is currently priced at $895 for members, $1,295 for nonmembers.
This year, WAA is breaking the mold. With the brand-new Showcase Pass, everyone can see these extraordinary artists for a fraction of the cost. Performances are now twice as long, up to 30 minutes, giving you a richer, more immersive look at the work that’s redefining the performing arts.
You’ll witness exceptional visionaries from across the U.S., Canada, and Colombia who are shaping the conversations on and off the stage. With two premieres and most artists featuring new material, this is your chance to discover the next great performance. You can see new work not previously seen before by LA’s own Astral Mixed Tape and Versa Style Dance Company.
Hand-picked by a panel of peers, the official selections represent the very best of WAA. The panel was led by co-chairs Rebecca Carson of the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University and Christopher Nicholas of Hip Hop Orchestra Experience.
“These are more than performances,” said the panel co-chair Carson. “These showcases are opportunities to experience the work that’s defining the future of the performing arts.” Carons is one of hundreds of presenters who come to WAA looking for artists who will resonate with her audience for seasons to come. “WAA is where I forge artistic partnerships,” added co-chair Nicholas who is also an artist. “Even when I’m not performing, I spark ideas and get inspired from being around all this incredible work.”
The diverse panel sifted through hundreds of applications to curate an exceptional lineup that celebrates creativity, innovation, and artistry. The panel includes Okama Brook (Africa Caribbean Heritage Alliance), Claudia Norman (Mexico Now Festival) Jerry Ross (Harmony Artists, Inc.), Michael Sakamoto (UMass Amherst), Ruth Wikler (Wikler Arts & Clark College Foundation), and Nathan Zeisler (The Colburn School).
The performances will span five of LA’s premier live performance venues: The Novo (Sept 2), USC’s Bovard Auditorium, Bing Theatre, and Sanctuary Theatre (Sept 3), and the outdoor stage at Grand Performances (Sept 4). With your Showcase Pass, come ready to be inspired and see first-hand the performances that everyone will be talking about next year.
Get ready to experience the magic usually reserved for industry insiders! Tickets cost $95 for WAA members or $295 for nonmembers and are available through August 15. Don’t just hear about the next big thing, see it for yourself.
