Programs

Western Arts Alliance is an essential resource for learning, sharing, networking programming, and routing tours in the performing arts. In addition to its annual conference, WAA’s programs, services and communications directly support more than 1500 individual artists, agents, and presenters who work together to enliven communities large and small.

A vital aspect of WAA’s mission is the ongoing training and education of artists, agents, and presenters. Arts professionals today work in an environment that is constantly shifting as we adapt to the challenges and rigors of our current social, economic, cultural, and political climate. WAA’s programs seeks to enhance artists’ and organizations’ ability to realize their artistic and public service goals by offering an array of opportunities that advance careers, build capacity, grow cultural competency, stimulate ingenuity, and foster leadership.

Advancing Indigenous Performance (AIP) is WAA’s new national initiative to build capacity and networks for Indigenous performing artists in the United States. Native Launchpad,  a program of AIP, provides Indigenous artists with tools and resources needed to further their careers and introduce them to the world of arts presenting and management. Launchpad is WAA’s development program for emerging artists and agents. Performing Arts Discovery (PAD) works to introduce and connect international programmers from around the Pacific Rim with artists or their representatives in the WAA Community. The WAA Institute is our biennial intergenerational retreat focusing on the critical issues facing our field. Conexiones seeks to expand authentic, sustainable conexiones (connections) and integration between the presenting industry and Latinx artists and communities. The goal of 35 Below is strengthen the bond among WAA affiliates under 35, to connect them with more established members, and to provide a channel through which young professionals can feel powerful and comfortable contributing to the field. CODA is an advisory council that exists as a forum within which former directors and officers may continue to serve WAA and its members.
