PADX: Hong Kong + Busan
Ready to tour Asia? Apply by May 29!
If you've been thinking about breaking into or connecting with Asian markets, this is your moment. WAA's PADX program is organizing a trade mission to two of the region's premier performing arts gatherings this October, and applications are open now.
When and Where?
The delegation will travel to the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX), October 9-13 – a biennial gathering that drew over 1,600 delegates from 60 countries in its inaugural edition and connects the performing arts sector across China, Asia, and beyond.
With an optional extension, delegates can also attend the Busan Performing Arts Market (BPAM) in South Korea, September 29–October 7, which is on track to welcome 300+ delegates from Korea, East Asia, and around the world in 2026.
What WAA Provides
Thanks to support from the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration (ITA) and our relationships with event producers, subsidized PADX delegates receive:
Travel subsidies — estimated at $1,950 - $2,205 for Hong Kong only, or $2,750 - $3,050 for both Korea and Hong Kong (not to exceed half of total costs).
Curated meetings and special activities.
A shared booth space in the Exhibit Halls of HKPAX and BPAM and shared promotion in conference channels.
Market research resources and access to on-the-ground experts.
Technical assistance and pre-trip support.
Who Should Apply
Participation in the delegation is open to all arts professionals with an interest in international engagement.
Subsidies are only available for US-based artists and artist representatives with existing or planned engagement with East Asian markets.
The delegation will be 5 - 10 arts professionals, selected by committee. WAA membership is not required.
Presenters, promoters, and international colleagues are also welcome to participate – reach out to us directly to learn more about the opportunity to participate in activities.
