2025 AIP Symposium: October 13
Learn about the next chapter of Advancing Indigenous Performance (AIP).
The 2025 AIP Symposium is a community meetup for WAA members interested in hearing about the next phase of the program, and forming an affinity/interest group. The Symposium was held ONLINE on October 13, 2025, from 12–2 pm PT.
Since 2018, the Native Artist Symposium has convened AIP artists for professional development prior to the WAA Annual Conference. This year, the gathering shifts online and welcomes all performing arts professionals—artists, agents/managers, presenters, and producers, Indigenous and allies.
The program included I ka wā ma mua, I ka wā ma hope (“We look to the past as a guide to the future,” Hawaiian ʻŌlelo Noʻeau), a panel moderated by Christopher Kaui Morgan, WAA’s newest board member and chair of the newly formed AIP Steering Committee, and featured Tim Wilson,Leilehua Lanzilotti, Delbert Anderson, Joshua Heim, and AIP program manager Ed Bourgeois reflecting on AIP’s history and its path forward.
The Symposium introduced the new AIP Steering Committee, launched the updated AIP webpages and Resource Center, and aims to bring interested members into an AIP interest group.
