Promoting New Programming for the 21st Century

Innovative presenters have attracted new sectors of their communities by offering a variety of ensemble genres-Western classical, contemporary, jazz, early and world music. Panelists will share their marketing and promotional strategies for reaching new audiences while preserving a loyal core of subscribers and audience members. The challenges involved in reaching different demographics and target audiences, and how such artistic diversity is successfully presented within one's local community will be discussed.

Federal Taxation On Foreign Artists - It's Time To Comply

It has become clear to all of us the global performing arts marketplace, that existing laws regarding Federal Taxation of Foreign Artists are now being more strictly enforced. It is essential for managers and presenters to understand the withholding requirements, separate fact from rumor, and have the tools necessary to evaluate whether or not it may be possible to reduce the dreaded 30% withholding on gross income or even avoid it completely. This session will give practical information regarding compliance and procedures; from international treaties and Central Withholding Agreements all the way to filing income tax returns.

Making the Most of WAA's Partnership with Perfomania

Perfomania and Western Arts Alliance recently formed a partnership to integrate Perfomania's powerful artist management and promotion tools with the depth and breadth of WAA's database. Artists, agents and managers will learn how to add detailed roster information, electronic press kits, stream media, avails and more with the WAA online directory. Presenters, find out how to use this new "one-stop-shopping" opportunity to find artists' information (by name, discipline or repertory) published by multiple agencies and independent artists.
