Discovery Sessions
Thursday, September 8: 8:30am - 10:30am

WAA encourages conversation and exploration in the Resource Room with two popular Discovery Sessions this year. These sessions provide an opportunity for presenters to learn about artists and projects and allow artists and artist managers to introduce new opportunities in the field in a two-minute pitch.

This year, we are holding two one-hour sessions. There will be no concurrent sessions. The topics for this year’s sessions are:
8:30am-9:30am—Artists with Fees of $5,000 and Less
9:30am-10:30am—Artists and Artist Managers New to WAA

Members interested in pitching must register in advance. Please keep in mind that this is a two-minute pitch, and there is no A/V provided. To sign up contact Kim Stoermer at 503-274-4729.

Roundtable Sessions
Friday, September 9, 8:15am-9:30am

Following the suggestions of our members, we are replacing one hour of workshops with round table sessions. These are smaller, informal discussion groups on a variety of topics. Some topics have already been recommended but if you have an idea that you’d like to discuss with your WAA peers, please contact Kim Stoermer at 503-274-4729. We will have a full list of topics in your on-site conference guide.

WAA Membership Meeting
Saturday, September 10: 9:15am - 11:00am

The annual business meeting of the Western Alliance of Arts Administrators Foundation includes the election of association board members, the annual treasurer’s report, activity reports and a general discussion of issues affecting WAA and the field. All primary members have voting privileges and are encouraged to participate.

State Consortia Meetings
Saturday, September 10: 8:00am - 9:00am

At the conference, WAA sets aside time and space for meetings with state arts agencies and presenter consortia. The consortia discuss block-booking, statewide and regional issues, while networking with peer presenters. Please check directly with the appropriate consortia for the time and location of your meeting.

Professional Development In-Conference Sessions
Friday, September 9: 8:15am - 11:00am

WAA is proud to present excellent educational opportunities to all conference attendees free of charge. There will be two sessions Friday morning featuring workshops and discussions on issues, events and skills important to the field.

Introduction to WAA
Saturday, September 10: 1:30pm - 3:00pm

This session is an opportunity for local arts professionals, board members, funders and sponsors to see the WAA conference up close and personal. Session attendees will meet with the WAA executive director for a general introduction to the association and take a guided tour of the Resource Room. It’s free and open to anyone interested in learning more about WAA and our Annual Conference. Please invite anyone you know who might be interested.
