Kimo Theatre

An important and popular part of the WAA annual conference is always the showcasing. Three mid-day sessions of music, dance, theater, and spoken word will be presented in venues around Albuquerque for conference delegates and members of the public. WAA’s showcasing will take place from Thursday, September 8, through Saturday, September 10.

There are three types of showcases being presented at the Albuquerque Conference: Juried, Affiliated, and Sponsored Showcases.

Juried Showcases
Our showcasing jury has selected top quality showcases to present during our afternoon showcasing sessions. Showcasing will take place in several venues in Albuquerque. Thursday’s showcases will take place at The National Hispanic Cultural Center, which includes The Albuquerque Journal Theater, and The Bank of America Theater. Friday’s showcases will be held in both the KiMo Theater, and the Pavilion Ballroom in the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. Saturday’s showcases will be held in the KiMo Theater only. Affiliated Showcases
WAA encourages all artist members to participate in showcasing. Artists not chosen for juried showcases still have opportunities to perform through Affiliated Showcases. Affiliated Showcases are produced by individual members at various locations and for a small fee are promoted through WAA’s showcasing brochure given to all conference attendees. If you have a Juried Showcase, your listing in the Conference Program is included in the price of the showcase; otherwise, the listing charge is $50. There is a charge of $10 for each additional time listing (up to 4 additional listings). If you prefer to fill out a paper form, the fee is $75 per showcase listing. To list your affiliated showcase, log on to the website with your username and password, click on Register Now, and then click on Exhibitor Registration. You must have already registered for a booth to submit a showcase listing.

Sponsored Showcases
These showcases are sponsored opportunities for artists by artist managers who help support the annual conference through generous financial contributions. Sponsored Showcases are tailored to conference special events, such as the luncheons. If you are interested in a Sponsored Showcase, please call our office at 503-274-4729 for more information.

Aviv Productions and the Australia Council are sponsoring a late night showcase of Expressions Dance Company from Brisbane Australia, 9:30 pm, Thursday, September 8 at The KiMo Theatre.
